A Network for Distance Education Reporting from European Activities

Backissues of Andrea

NKI has established this Listserv list for European distance educators. The service is named ANDREA - A Network for Distance Education Reporting from European Activities. The list became fully operative in September 1994. ANDREA is established in cooperation with European Distance Education Network (EDEN).

EDEN has entered into a formal agreement of co-operation with the International Council for Distance Education (ICDE) in 1993. The agreement covers activities within the areas of exchange of information, conferences, seminars etc. consultancies, missions, programmes and projects, and a joint membership arrangement in Europe. Thus, EDEN has a special responsibility for distributing information on distance education and related fields to the European distance education community - including all parts of Europe.

Torstein Rekkedal, Director of Research and Development at NKI and member of the Interim Steering Committee of EDEN Academic and Professional Section, will act as ANDREA's formal editor. During its first phase Salvor Gissurardottir will serve as listowner and organizer of ANDREA.

The aim of ANDREA is to distribute information and facilitate communication among European distance educators.

This means that we will welcome information on distance education in general with main emphasis on Information from European organizations and information from other parts of the world of specific interest for Europe.

In addition to such information ANDREA can publish articles and research reports on distance education in abstract or in complete version.

ANDREA welcomes contributions and participation from European organizations such as for example EADTU, AECS, SATURN, Europace 2000 and others.

ANDREA will also establish contact with different national distance education organizations in Europe for supplying information of national activities to people in Europe.
